It’s officially that time of the year. Your Google search history is 70% “How to crack CAT in 3 months,” 20% “VARC strategy last minute,” and 10% memes because, well, sanity. If you're reading this with a mix of panic and “I still have time, right?”, breathe. You're not alone, and yes, 90 days is enough to turn things around. But only if you play it smart.
Let’s talk about how to squeeze every drop of juice out of the next three months. No fluff, no motivational quotes, just straight-up strategy.
Month 1: Foundation
Okay, think of this as your detox phase. You’re not starting from scratch, but you're clearing the mental mess.
1. Take a Mock First.
Don’t wait to “complete the syllabus.” Take a mock today. It’ll sting, maybe even wreck your confidence, but it’s your blueprint. You can’t fix what you can’t see.
2. Set the Record Straight
3. Stop Passive Learning
Watching a 45-minute video on Time-Speed-Distance ≠ preparation. Solve as you watch. Make mistakes. That’s how your brain rewires.
Month 2: Test, Tweak, Target
This is where the gears shift. You’ve identified weak areas, now it’s time to go surgical.
1. Mocks Every 3 Days
Alternate full-length and sectionals. Review them like an analyst, not a victim. What type of RC passage slows you down? What’s your average time per LRDI set? Are you making silly mistakes in Speed Math?
2. Create Your Own Error Log
Start a Google Sheet. For every mock, note:
You’ll be shocked at how often the same pattern repeats.
3. Study in Time Blocks, Not Marathon Sessions
Use the Pomodoro technique: Study for 25 minutes, take 5 minutes off. CAT is all about focus. This keeps you mentally fresh and prevents burnout.
Month 3: Performance Mode Activated
This is your rehearsal period.
1. Mocks Every Alternate Day + Full Analysis
You now treat mocks like actual CAT attempts. Same time, same environment, no pausing. Post-mock? Go full Sherlock on your performance.
2. Fine-Tune Strategy
This is when you figure out whether you want to start with DILR or VARC? When is it time to skip the question? This is the time when you test and develop a strategy and figure out what actually works for your brain.
3. Slot Simulation
Find your actual CAT slot (morning/afternoon/evening) and start training your brain to peak at that time. If your actual exam is going to be at 2 PM, stop studying at 11 PM and sleeping at 2 AM.
Final 7 Days: Polish.
No new chapters. No dramatic overhauls. Just review, revise, and rest. It’s not about studying more, it’s about showing up calm, focused, and in command of your game plan. CAT doesn’t ask you to be perfect. It asks you to be better than the next person at playing a smart, strategic game for three hours.
There’s no one-size-fits-all path. These 90 days will look different for everyone. But if you stay consistent, stay self-aware, and stop comparing your prep to everyone else's, you’re already ahead of the curve.
Make your coming 90 days count, not perfect, not Instagram-worthy, just effective.
